A male dominant dog loving friend who only checks out our blog for photos of the Xmas Present (CBT photos make him shudder) dropped me a line last week to remind us that we hadn't posted a birthday photo of the XP this year (she was born in Oct and came home with us two days before Xmas, thus the name we use on the blog).
So .... above you can see the XP in all her glory, three years and one month old, beloved sun faded tennis ball firmly between front paws. She was very clear that she didn't want a photo of her actually chasing the ball because that would reveal that the lovely long hair on her tail and back legs and around her privates has just been clipped:
This was done because it's tick season and that lovely long hair was their favorite place to climb aboard. We nearly lost her to a paralysis tick once before, so we are taking no chances this year. We'd like her to achieve lots more birthdays.
This definitely was NOT the XP's idea of a good birthday / xmas present. We reassured her that her hair would regrow and that having a full brazilian was VERY fashionable, but the Xmas Present felt her dignity was in tatters - to say nothing of the cold draft around her nether regions - and it was rather tricky to walk around with her that first day because she kept sitting down every second step.
Poor XP! Well, we think our birthday girl still looks beautiful:
