Trying a whangee cane

Sol presented me with these three implements this morning as part of our morning rituals:

The heavy bamboo cane at the front is a new acquisition. It's what's called a whangee cane. Here's Wiki on the subject:

"Whangee refers to any of over forty Asian grasses of the genus Phyllostachys, a genus of bamboos. They are a hardy evergreen plant from Japan, China and the Himalayas whose woody stems are sometimes used to make canes and umbrella handles. The word derives from the Chinese (Mandarin) huáng lí. It can also refer to a cane made from whangee.

"John Steed, the dapper secret agent from television's The Avengers, was known for carrying an umbrella with a whangee handle. Charlie Chaplin's, The Tramp character, is famously known for his whangee cane"
Our cane is a Charlie Chaplin style cane - you can find online examples for sale here. At least we know our Chaplin cane is a fake, unlike some being sold on Ebay! It came from the same place as sol's other favorite new acquisition: his hat.

Whangee canes are pretty fierce, used in play. We'd read about them on Canes4pain.com:
"Whangee Canes are mainly for people into Corporal Punishment, S&M, or just hard heavy play. They are not for the faint of heart. They are very nasty, as far as levels of pain. They give a lot of intensity with very little effort. Bottoms, don't buy this as a gift to your top. Don't say I didn't warn you. No two are alike, and each is very interesting looking.

"The photo below shows the leaf nodes and knobbly parts of the Whangee Canes. This is part of what makes them so intense. See how the cane bulges out? See the nasty little bumps? It's not all nice and smooth like my peeled rattan canes.

"Their bumps, ridges, and marking pattern will vary. On most people, the marks left on the skin look like a classic cane stripe-the double, parallel red lines plus the added effect of the nodes, which makes a mark like a little explosion where each leaf node hits.

"If you like thud better, go for the thicker Whangee Canes. They are "breath-taking". If you are more into sting, go for the thin or medium thickness. They sting like heck. Length on these is 26-31 inches, depending on the flexibility. The thin canes are around 10-15mm thick, the medium are 15-20mm thick, and the thick version is around 21-28mm thick. Those measurements are taken between the nodes. The thin and medium Whangee Canes are flexible, but not overly so, and the thicker are more solid-- very slightly flexible"
You'll find a photo of one of these canes being used here. If you'd like to find out more, there's a related thread on the British Caning Society forum. There's also a whangee page on Facebook.

See what I mean? Really fiendish, these canes.

We thought we'd give our Charlie Chaplin cane a bit of a try out, and if we liked the sensations it produced we'd order one from Canes4Pain. We weren't concerned about using a real cane or bamboo (which can split into sharp splinters) because in texture ours was similar to the Canes4Pains ones, and also these ones sold by JT's Stockroom, about which they write:
"This is not your typical BDSM-style cane. It's a thicker, heavier, and more rigid cane like the ones used for "official punishments" in such countries as Singapore. It is stiff enough to be used as a light-weight walking stick. 38" in length and at least 5/8" (1.6cm) in diameter, with a metal tip at the end"
Today's morning ritual would be the first of our try outs, albeit a very short one in terms of play time. But that's a good thing when you are trying something new.

With sol face down and ass up it was time to start:

I saw what Canes4pain mean, re the thud. Jesus. "Breath-taking", indeed ... it takes the breath away from the dominant just swinging the thing and landing it accurately!

After just a few strokes sol had a nice set of marks:

I couldn't resist running my fingernails over the ridges in his flesh:

I alternated strokes with some genital play:

And then I finished up this very quick morning scene with some straight (rattan) cane strokes:

The end result of this ten minute scene was this:

This scene was a bit too short to draw any real conclusions but we can say we both really like the heaviness and the unique roughness of the whangee cane.

We look forward to - and will report on - a longer try out soon :)
