I wanted to share with you our current favorite tipple.
It's an Australian beer called Skinny Blonde. So why the post? Well, it's got a rather clever advertising gimmick, I guess you'd call it. When the bottle comes out of the fridge cold, it's logo looks like the photo at the top: a cute drawing of a blonde in a red bikini.
But when you drink the contents, and the bottle warms up (here you can see sol giving the logo on a half empty bottle a "warm up"):

The result? The red bikini top vanishes *grin*:

See, thought you'd like it!
Skinny Blonde was created by The Vines drummer Hamish Rosser, winemaker Richie Harkham and artist Jarod Taylor. While it's won awards (including 'Peoples Choice' awards at the 2008 Australian Beer Festival) it attracted controversy across Australia when it was launched. As Wiki has noted:
"The label has angered some health and women's groups who claimed, "This is another blatant example of the alcohol industry objectifying women to move product".[4] Women's Forum Australia spokeswoman Melinda Tankard was quoted as saying: "This is demeaning, inappropriate and troubling."[5][6] Rosser responded, "This generation of Aussies have grown up on the beach and topless girls in bikinis are commonplace. The label and website is in no way meant to offend women or anyone else, rather embrace the Australian beach culture."[4] He was also quoted as saying that the beer was "just a bit of cheeky fun."[5]We tend to agree ... and I think the 'Peoples Choice' awards confirm that the beer certainly brightens a lot of peoples' days!

Mistress 160,
Yes but it's not really proper beer is it?? LOL. Not like the warm, rich stuff that goes under such delightful names as 'Old Speckled Hen', 'Old Peculiar', 'Badger', 'Waggle Dance' etc, etc. I am of course talking bitters...far better than lager. Mindyou, give me a pint of cider or a glass of red wine anyday!

p.s. although the link to your blog from mine now works, it's still not updating properly when you post a new article. Not sure why not
Sheesh! And I thought that you were drinking it strictly for the taste and the alcohol content.
