Sorry to be so quiet on the blog front. We were both sick for quite a while after we returned from Melbourne, and were not up to either attending events or even really doing much play. I wrote on Fetlife that I was getting so bored with being sick that I was going to tie sol's dick in a knot, and I did do that a few times but sorry, didn't have the camera handy! I thought I'd use the time now to bring readers up to date in the calm before the storm, so to speak, as we have friends arriving this weekend for a private Xmas house / play party. Look! I took the photos above and below this morning. It's an absolutely cloudless day, warm with a gentle wind:

And this is where we've now set up a large shade cloth, attached to the trees:

It looks really pretty with two seating areas, one around the main table and another with Turkish cushions around the Moroccan copper coffee table. And lots of Balinese prayer flags and suspended glass candle holders. Hmmm. And a slight shortage of beds, LOL, but never mind! We all have ideas for the Best Xmas / sub Decorated Tree contest. We'll also have a hunt either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, depending on the temperature. All is in readiness ... yesterday a nice man came and mowed four acres of the property, for us to play in, and I have all our cute little water pistols filled with interesting substances...
What else can I share with you? Not much play noted on the camera, but here's sol snoozing. I'm keeping sol in bra and panties full time these days.

And he's also back in chastity, the CB6000 having responded well to it's second round of glue repairs:

What else have we been up to? About our only excursion was to do a bit of local research on hemp rope, after a member of my Fetlife Northern NSW group attended a shibari workshop by Satomi, who recommended the product but said it was hard to track down. I posted that we'd checked out and purchased hemp rope available for sale from the Hemp Embassy in Nimbin:

It's untreated and very rough, as you can see in the close up below. But even untreated it has an interesting texture, lots of sharp bits, and presents certain fiendish possibilities....

In January a few of us might meet for lunch near Nimbin and then head over to the Hemp Emporium.
Speaking of sharp things, I've been using the time at home and offline to work on my wooden sculptures, the one's I'm hanging from trees around the property. The inspiration for these is a construction a friend made me a few years back when I was living in Melbourne: a cage (they called it a box lol) out of rose stems. You can see it here:

Here's a close up:

I'd originally requested the thorns be left on the stems but the friend thought this too dangerous and removed them. Huge waste, lol!
After I decided I wanted to create all sorts of weird sculptures to hang in the trees here I had the idea of recreating cages out of branches from trees on the property, in a larger format. An artist friend helped me formulate a few further ideas a couple of months back when she visited for a while. We decided everything used must be natural, so that when the cages eventually fell apart they would return to their original state. For example, we decided to use coconut frond fibre (made by stripping strands of fibre from freshly fallen coconut fronds) as a mechanism for joining the branches. Here are our first designs mid project:
And here's me finishing up a more recent example:
I am now using natural twine as well as the coconut fronds. As I also like hanging sculptures that make noise (blame the memory of Asian wind chimes when I was younger) I am also incorporating seed pods that I collected last time we visited Devilwoman's place. These hang below some of the cages and make interesting sounds in the wind.

I love the idea of encountering these cages ... and other weird and wonderful things ... while walking around the property. I might even work on one that's strong enough for subs...
Time to do an airport pickup run, so that's the end of the peace and quiet here for a while. Have a great weekend ... we certainly will :)

I think that you will enjoy the hemp rope, it is wonderful to work with.
It can also be softened, but some folks would feel that ruins some of the fun! ;-)
I agree. I love the rough texture. Obviously it's not possible to do lengthy bondage scenes with it that rough (unless one was a sadist or something *grin*) but we are having a lot of fun with shorter untreated hemp rope scenes.
