My "BDSM for Beginners"' post on creating your own kinky toy box has prompted quite a few questions as to what our own toy box contains. Easy answer: lots!
Oh, you want specifics??? Well, if you were looking around our house you would find them in many places, some more revealing, some more concealed... I remember making people laugh on a forum thread a while back when I posted that floggers draped over art work in our house are often interpreted by visitors as part of an art installation!
Apart from dead giveaways (like the large hook in the ceiling and the chain hanging down from it) probably what you would notice first is our very large BDSM library, not only of books but journals, magazines, videos etc. You don't count such things as "toys"? Huge mistake ... they provide endless knowledge and expertise, and also help to acquire practical professional skills (to a certain level). We also love acquiring rare periodicals - magazines like Madame and In A World of Fantasy as well as early (pre issue 20) volumes of Vixen provide endless scope for my imagination.
The next most important "toy" is our digital camera, so we can share everything with you.
What about "real" play toys, then?

Because we often play away from home a great deal of our toy collection is stored in ways that allows everything to easily be picked up and transported elsewhere. So we have several large plastic storage containers with lids, stored under our bed as well as a 24 hook hanging system on the back of the bedroom's wardrobe doors. When these items need to be packed their hooks come with them, allowing them to easily be reassembled at, say, our private play cabin, strung on a single rope (see photo below).
The plastic storage containers under the bed are also easy to place in the trunk of a car. I also have several smaller traveling toy cases, the main one of which is a black leather pilot's bag. Sol has an area of his study put aside for his fetish / feminization items. My female dominant clothing is not a "toy" or a prop to me, so I will not cover that subject here - although at the request of several regular readers I am currently writing a post about this.
So what toys will you find hanging inside our wardrobe doors? I'm seriously interested in perfecting corporal punishment skills and am lucky enough to have a pain slut to practice on, so these include:
cat of nine tails (Sax)- riding crop (Sax)
- various rattan canes
- rawhide cane
- plastic coasted wire cane
- fibreglass cane
- braided leather cane
- red suede flogger (Sax)
- leather and fur blindfold (Sax)
- leather flogger (Sax)
- leather and fur strop (Sax)
- leather quirt
- home made wooden spreader bars
There are far too many items in the storage boxes under the bed to list but I'll mention a few that receive a lot of use:
- strap on harnesses
- assorted dildos, butt plugs, vibrators etc
- various cuffs + collars
- various cock and ball toys
- including my favorite black leather parachute ball stretcher and various weights
- leather collar + leash
- wooden hair brush
- male chastity items
- Japanese clover clamps
- Wartenberg Pinwheel
- wooden paddles + ping pong bat
- hemp bondage rope
- gags
- bondage rope kit (various hemp and cotton ropes)
- bamboo skewers
- lubes + massage oil
- portable bed bondage system (homemade with twine and carabiners)
- assorted clamps
- enema kit
- aftercare kit with first aid kit
Sax Leather and JT's Stockroom (go back to the store list on my "BDSM for Beginners"' post on creating your own kinky toy box for the names and contact details of other manufacturers and stores) we also possess many "pervertables" - toys we have made ourselves. These include our spreader bars and our very useful while traveling portable twine and carabiner bed restraint system (which can partially be seen in the photo at the bottom of this post). At the moment my favorite "pervertable" is "Superdong" or "Superdick", a toy created to celebrate sol's 40th birthday.

Like many of the best "pervertables", "Superdong" is very simple: a simple vibrator (batteries removed lol) taped onto a 3 foot long metal pole to give additional length. And its purpose? Its an alternative to a strap on or a hand held dildo that provides the distance necessary to engage in several activities at the same time. To give an example: at the end of sol's birthday play I had sol kneel in front me, ass up, with a dog leash clipped to his birthday leather ball stretcher. I looped the loop of the leash around my boot heel and tightened the tension. As sol moved back to ease the pressure on his balls I introduced "Superdong" to his asshole ... further ... and further. Just when he thought he had enough to keep him occupied I reintroduced the cane he had met earlier in the evening, alternating cane strikes with "Superdong" strokes and never letting up on the tension on his balls.... Without "Superdong" I would never have been able to achieve the distance to fuck sol and cane him at the same time. It was a most enjoyable. I must get sol to write it up for this blog...
Another very useful item I keep on top of the storage boxes under the bed is a tray (see photo at top of blog). Its useful if you only want to get a few items out of the box, or if you want to set up a whole tray with toys prior to play but keep it hidden from your sub's sight. Mine - which features a Japanese ukiyo print of a couple fucking -makes a perfect BDSM toy tray.
The contents of my traveling toy bag can be adapted depending on where, why and how I am going. Airport security is now very tricky - Seattle's Mistress Milliscent blogged about this issue. Stories are increasingly being told of BDSM toys not only 'lost' from checked through luggage but taken from carried on items by TSA personnel who insist on their being "voluntarily surrendered" for "airline safety" for no other reason that they don't like what they are seeing. So be aware. And for God's sake don't travel with any toy you are not prepared to lose!!
If I am not traveling by plane I usually travel with a selection of the following:
- leather cuffs

- assorted ropes
- Japanese clover clamps
- Wartenberg wheel
- 12 pegs, half of which are linked by string
- selection of cock rings
- candle and matches
- cleanup towel
- leather and fur blindfold
- two small leather floggers
- small canes: rattan + wrapped leather
- traveling bed restraint system
- small vibrator / KY / spare batteries
- digital camera
- basic first aid / aftercare kit
And in a worst case scenario? I just take the perfume - and my imagination!
This photo was taken in a hotel room prior to play and shows many of the toys from my travelling toy case: from right to left: pegs (including some knotted together with twine), Wartenberg wheel, Japanese clover clamps, sol wearing leather cuffs, leather wrapped cane, small leather flogger, rattan cane with suede handle and larger leather flogger. The portable bed restraint system can be seen attached to sol's cuffs
